Simonton StormBreaker Plus - Break Through the Storm
Simonton Windows® has introduced Simonton StormBreaker Plus™, an impact resistant replacement window product line designed for high wind borne coastal areas, especially in the Florida area.
"Living in a coastal areas with high winds can be a wonderful, yet sometimes unsettling experience," says Bill Lazor, senior brand manager at Simonton Windows. "Unexpected powerful storms can cause damage to the home --- and windows are oftentimes most vulnerable. The new Simonton StormBreaker Plus products can lessen concerns about the exposure of the home to both storms and potential intruders. These products have been proven to offer security and safety to the home."
Compared to cumbersome, expensive and unsightly shutter systems, StormBreaker Plus are crafted to let the beauty of a home shine through while filling it with natural sunlight. They offer protection from potential injury and property damage, the sun's harmful rays, irritating outside noises and unwelcome intruders.
Each impact resistant StormBreaker Plus unit undergoes rigorous testing and has been found to be less susceptible to object penetration during high winds than windows that are manufactured using other types of glass.
Nothing can completely subdue the power of Mother Nature, or ensure that the devastation caused by storms such as Hurricane Andrew, Hurricane Hugo or Katrina will never occur again. But StormBreaker Plus Windows can help provide homeowners with a degree of comfort and protection that ordinary windows and doors just can’t match. StormBreaker Plus patented technology helps your Windows protect your family and possessions by reducing the likelihood of an impact fracture during a high windstorm.
Simonton StormBreaker Plus - Sliding Impact Vinyl Door
PARKERSBURG, W. VA. – Coastal area builders and remodelers now have the ability to install impact-resistant vinyl-framed sliding doors in their projects that reach up to eight feet high and span an opening of 12 feet. The new addition of Sliding Impact Vinyl Doors to the Simonton StormBreaker Plus® product line is believed to be the largest array of opening sizes for vinyl-framed impact-resistant sliding doors available in the industry.
The sturdy doors come in two- and three-panel configurations and range in size from 5-0 x 6-8 to 12-0 x 8-0. Nine stock sizes are available with tan or white vinyl frames. Not to be confused with products made with tempered glass alone, the Sliding Impact Vinyl Doors are made with one pane of tempered glass and one pane of impact-resistant laminated glass, that enable the doors to stand up to fierce weather conditions. Much like a car windshield, when these doors are struck by flying objects, the glass is more resistant to breaking. If the flying object fractures the glass, the laminated glass will remain intact within the window frame and protect the home from becoming pressurized. Various glass package options are available for the Simonton StormBreaker Plus Sliding Impact Vinyl Door to meet ENERGY STAR® guidelines including Solar ETM and greylite (turtle glass). Grid options for the Sliding Impact Vinyl Door include Prairie, Perimeter and Colonial styles in white, tan or brass.
“The addition of the Sliding Impact Vinyl Door is a distinct enhancement to our line of Simonton StormBreaker Plus products,” according to Mark DeSimone, coastal products manager for Simonton Windows. “We believe this is the first sliding door available with impact-resistant qualities in such a strong selection of sizes. These doors provide builders and remodelers with more options than ever before to help protect coastal area homes from hurricanes and severe weather.”
Fiberglass hideaway screens and stainless steel hardware are standard on the doors. Available accessory items include jamb extenders, dry wall returns and a surround flange.
“These impact-resistant sliding doors work 24 hours a day, seven days a week and do not need to be boarded or shuttered up if properly installed and maintained,” says DeSimone. “Impact-resistant windows and doors are an investment that pays off in many ways for the homeowner. First, they offer enhanced storm protection and superior energy efficiency benefits, which can save on energy bills. Second, many insurance companies offer homeowners reduced rates for having these products in their home.
“Third, the vinyl frames on these doors are easy to maintain while being a great insulator. And finally, impact-resistant doors reduce the amount of noise and UV rays that can penetrate the home along with making it more difficult for intruders to break in.”
Simonton Windows produces ENERGY STAR® qualified replacement and new construction windows and doors, including a line of impact-resistant products. The company was ranked #1 in quality in the 2007 Brand Use Study sponsored by Builder magazine and has won two consecutive Best In Class Awards for being ranked “Overall Top Rated Vinyl Window Brand” in unaided industry studies.
